Your alimony payments are still deductible. However, if a divorce occurs after December 31, 2018, the deduction for alimony payments is eliminated.
You could still be impacted by the new law if any modifications to your alimony occur in 2019 or later.
Any tax or divorce attorneys out there have an opinion on this new legislation? Wouldn't it seem fairer for the person who receives the alimony income to pay tax on the income?
