I filed my 2017 returns two weeks ago and my return was accepted. As I owed money, I noticed the money was taken from my bank account last week. Problem is that I just discovered that I forgot to enter a stock sale from December so I need to amend my return ASAP and pay more.
When I go on the TurboTax website to try and file a 1040x, my 2017 filing does not appear. Shouldn’t it be there already? Since I owe money, I’m anxious to make the correction and avoid a fine. How long should it take before my 2017 return is available on TurboTax.com?
I'm not sure I'm clear. Can you log into your account and view the status there? You should have also received an email when it was accepted. Or check the efile status in the link below.
I don’t understand either! It shows that my return was accepted, but when I log into my account, my 2017 return is not there to amend. I have the return on my computer, but to file the 1040x, it says I have to go to TurboTax.com and work from there. WTH?

Your return has been received. You can expect to receive an email acknowledgment within 24-48 hours, indicating whether or not your e-file was accepted.

The filing has been transmitted to the agency and the agency has accepted (but not acknowledged) the filing. The system is now waiting for an acknowledgment message from the agency regarding the filing.

The filing has been successfully acknowledged by the agency.
You may need to sort this out with support as I do not have access to your account info. However, if you know that you will be owing more taxes, then go ahead and pay them at the IRS payment links I included above. Support may be easier to get through after 4/17/18 and there is time to make the amendment.
